Edward Arnold Reep (1918-2013) was a major 20th Century American artist who has brought water media painting into the ranks of significant academic and professional discussion with a body of mixed media work stretching from the 1930s to the present, and through his seminal book
The Content of Watercolor, first published in 1969. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Edward Reep was a combat artist/captain in World War II and was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1956-7. Reep taught for more than 40 years in art schools and universities, exhibited widely, received numerous awards and distinctions, and his works are in major museums and private collections.
